Gumroad alternative

A Gumroad alternative that takes no cut.

Gumroad takes 10% + 50¢ of every direct sale, then card fees on top, and 30% when a buyer finds you through its marketplace. ReplaPay is a checkout you buy once and run on your own Stripe account, so the only fee on a sale is Stripe’s.

What Gumroad actually takes

Gumroad’s own pricing page puts it simply: 10% + 50¢ on every sale through your profile or a direct link, and 30% on sales that come through its Discover marketplace. Its help centre adds that card processing is not included in the 10%, so a card sale also pays roughly 2.9% + 30¢. Since January 2025 Gumroad has been the merchant of record, which means it collects and pays sales tax and VAT for you.

On a $50 product, that is $5.00 to Gumroad, 50¢ fixed, and about $1.75 for the card: $7.25 a sale, or 14.5%. On a $10 product it is $2.09 a sale, over a fifth of the price.

When Gumroad is the better buy

Stay with Gumroad if any of these is true. We would rather you heard it here than after you had bought.

  • You want the marketplace. Discover can bring you buyers who have never heard of you. ReplaPay brings none; it only takes payment from people you send to it.
  • You don’t want to deal with sales tax. As merchant of record, Gumroad collects and files it. With ReplaPay you are the seller, so tax is yours, though Stripe Tax can calculate and collect it for 0.5%.
  • You sell very little. Gumroad costs nothing until you sell. ReplaPay is $299 up front plus a small server, which pays for itself at about $4,000 of sales in the first year, and about $1,200 a year after that.
  • You don’t want a server. ReplaPay runs on one you rent. We can set it up for you, or host it, but it is still a thing that exists.

Moving your products across

Each Gumroad product becomes a payment link in ReplaPay: a name, a price, and what happens after the sale. Deliver a file on a private link that expires, send buyers to a thank-you page, or redirect them into your app. Monthly and yearly subscriptions work on card. Discount codes carry over by hand, and they work on crypto payments too. Keep your Gumroad account open until the new links have taken a few real payments.

Questions people ask

Is there a Gumroad alternative with no fees?

No alternative can remove the card fee, because the card networks and Stripe charge it on every payment. What ReplaPay removes is the platform’s cut: it runs on your own Stripe account, so a card sale costs Stripe’s 2.9% + 30¢ and nothing more, and a crypto sale has no card fee at all.

How much does Gumroad take from a sale?

10% + 50¢ on direct sales, plus card processing of about 2.9% + 30¢, which comes to $7.25 on a $50 sale. Sales made through Gumroad’s Discover marketplace cost 30%, with processing included.

Does ReplaPay handle sales tax like Gumroad?

No. Gumroad is the merchant of record and handles sales tax and VAT for you. With ReplaPay you are the seller, so registering and filing are yours. Stripe Tax can calculate and collect tax at checkout for 0.5% of each sale.

Can I sell subscriptions?

Yes, monthly and yearly on card, renewing automatically. Crypto payments cannot do subscriptions, because there is no card on file to charge again, so ReplaPay refuses rather than pretending.
